Just a note regarding the statement that the NT is not a code book, but an historical record (etc.)
In fact, the four gospels and acts are accurate historical records. It is the remainder of the NT that gives us actual direction in matters of faith and practice. If one should wander away from it (esp in matters of saving faith in Christ) we encouraged strongly to 'earnestly contend' for the Faith.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4514316733918143759.post-84913252668692909132011-04-08T08:10:33.948-04:002011-04-08T08:10:33.948-04:00Pdiddee,

I have done so at several different times in my walk. He is faithful to correct us and bring the seeds we plant to fruition even when our planting skills aren't that great.Misplaced Honorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07678088467204383307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4514316733918143759.post-79864487244346412552011-04-07T23:23:15.715-04:002011-04-07T23:23:15.715-04:00I appreciate what you've written and agree. But you really summed it up with your statement about the "uncrucified part of us that thinks it can do things by our own strength, power and understanding.". After I read a few books concerning organic church, I got real excited and decided I alone knew what was wrong with "my" church and set about informing everyone. It wasn't all bad but I learned it's not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord. We all want Jesus to be the only Head (cause He is) and to be led of Him. His word keeps coming to me a lot recently, greater love has no man than this, than to lay down his life (will, way, self, opinion, pet doctrines, etc.) for his friends. He's making this a present tense reality in my life. I have your blog on my shelf now so I look forward to more!Pdiddeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15799720317164858122noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4514316733918143759.post-47378446776562165532011-04-07T14:41:40.988-04:002011-04-07T14:41:40.988-04:00Alan,

Since most people who are part of simple churches left more institutional churches, they can appear prideful of figuring something out that others don't get. I hope that made sense...

-AlanAlan Knoxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07452247058550736803noreply@blogger.com
